King Lear, Act 1, Scene 1. Goneril says this to Regan as the sisters plot against their father Lear, having ironically only just declared their love for him. After Lear’s banishment of Kent, they are worried that their father will turn on them next. So is sown the seeds of a plot to betray Lear and protect the sisters’ power now that Lear has given away his kingdom to them.
