Oh! So you want some rough-house! All right, let’s have some rough-house! Tiger – tiger! Drop the bottle top! Drop it! We’ve had this date with each other from the beginning!

– Tennessee Williams

A Streetcar Named Desire, Scene 10. A drunk and aggressive Stanley speaks these words to Blanche just before he rapes her. She is brandishing a broken bottle in order to cut him. Ridiculing her resistance to his advances, he uses an animal metaphor to compare her to a tiger and suggests she wanted this sex with him from the beginning. This shows that Stanley’s sexual assault of Blanche is premeditated. As Stanley says these words he grabs Blanche’s wrist and easily disarms and overpowers her.
