BLANCHE: Please don’t get up.
STANLEY: Nobody’s going to get up, so don’t be worried.

– Tennessee Williams

A Streetcar Named Desire, Scene 3. When Stella and Blanche arrive back after taking in a show, Blanche tells the men not to get up, imagining she is among a group of refined Southern gentlemen. The unrefined Stanley puts her right by telling her that men don’t get up for the ladies in his working class world of New Orleans.
