THESEUS: Moonshine and Lion are left to bury the dead.
DEMETRIUS: Ay, and Wall too.
BOTTOM: No, I assure you, the wall is down that parted their fathers.
– William Shakespeare
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act 5, Scene 1. After the suicides of Pyramus and Thisbe, Theseus jokes that only Moonshine and Lion are left to bury the dead. Demetrius adds that Wall is also left. Bottom, who is meant to be dead as Pyramus, suddenly comes out of character. He rises and assures the audience that the wall separating Pyramus and Thisbe’s fathers’ lands has been taken down.
