A Streetcar Named Desire, Scene 4. Stella leaps to her husband’s defense after Blanche criticizes his drunk and abusive behavior the night before. Stella simply says that her sister saw him on a bad night, but Blanche cannot comprehend how Stella can live with such a brute of a man.
