A Streetcar Named Desire, Scene 3. From the first moment we meet Mitch, he doesn’t appear to fit the aggressive and brute masculinity that Stanley represents. He announces to the others in the poker game that he must leave early to look after his sick mother. It is this "gentleman" aspect to him that attracts Blanche.
