I like the way my heart beats, I like the way I think; I don’t need or want anything to change that. – Jordin Sparks
I’ve performed in Auburn Hills, at The Palace, so I haven’t really been in downtown Detroit, but I’ve been able to be here, and I can really see, what the city was. Like, I can feel why Motown started here and how amazing it was. – Jordin Sparks
I’ve had lots of friends who’ve gone through ‘Battlefield’ situations in their relationships, so when I was singing the song I put myself in their position and tried to imagine what they were going through. I got so, so into it and I think you can tell. – Jordin Sparks
The faith-based thing is really important for me. There are certain situations that I would not have been able to make through without the promises He makes and gave for us. – Jordin Sparks
I always wanted to work with Michael Jackson. His music will live forever and with technology nowadays… maybe I could. – Jordin Sparks
Well… I had braces and I had to wear headgear! I loved my braces, actually. For me, they were like a piece of jewelry! Instead of the silver or pewter I had gold braces. It was so much fun, I loved them. I got to change the colors and stuff and I had the rubber bands. – Jordin Sparks
There’s no quick or magical way to lose weight. You just have to do it the natural way – diet and exercise and stick to it – and be able to do it at your own pace. – Jordin Sparks
I do consider myself a competitive person, but I’m not competitive to the point where I will do anything to win. I wouldn’t step on somebody just to get to the next level. I would have to do it fair and square. I’m kind of competitive in a way to where I like to figure out things myself, and if I need help, I’ll ask. – Jordin Sparks
‘Battlefield’ was one of those slow-building songs, the way ‘Tattoo’ was. It was kind of a word-of-mouth hit. The more people heard it, the more they started requesting it on the radio. – Jordin Sparks
Since ‘Idol’ I’ve gotten used to having an amazing hair and make-up team around me, so I’m starting to get picky. I know what I like now and I’m happy to say ‘Could we maybe change that?’ if I don’t like something. I don’t yell or anything, but I think I could definitely start to act a little diva-ish when it comes to my look. – Jordin Sparks
I’m excited about the new judges on ‘American Idol.’ Jennifer Lopez was a real mentor to me my season and I admire her so much. And I kind of have a crush on Steven Tyler. It’s going to be interesting to see is one person going to stand out among the judges or if everyone will sort of be equal. – Jordin Sparks
That term’s definitely got a negative aura to it, because people think a diva is somebody with an attitude who demands things all the time. Of course there is that type of diva, but my idea of a diva has always been a singer – whether male or female – who gets on that stage and captivates you with their presence and their voice. – Jordin Sparks
My favorite song is ‘No Air,’ a duet I did with Chris Brown. I don’t want to sound weird or anything, but I listen to it a lot – it’s always on my iPod! – Jordin Sparks
With the R&B, gospel feel that ‘Sparkle’ has, that opens the door for my fans to be more accepting of that sound and also for me to try it. – Jordin Sparks
For me to even be talking about bikini confidence is crazy. If you had asked me a couple of months ago, I probably would have been like, ‘what are you talking about…’ so it’s actually huge for me to even feel okay with putting a bikini on. – Jordin Sparks
My goals are to tell meaningful stories through songs and touch people’s lives… and hopefully make a living doing it. – Jordin Sparks
When I turned 18, my mom, my nana and I all went and had tattoos of our favorite Bible verses put on the inside of our wrists. Mine is 1st Timothy, 4:12. – Jordin Sparks
With my schedule being so crazy, I can’t call every day or hang out with my friends like I used to and that’s definitely sad. – Jordin Sparks
I know what I want to look like. I don’t want to look trashy. I want mothers to be able to look at me and not have to close their kids’ eyes! – Jordin Sparks
For me, ‘I Am Woman’ is all about transition. I turned 21 in December, so I’m not completely grown up yet but I’m not a little girl anymore. Just in that in-between stage. The song is everything I have ever heard a woman say. I loved this song for me and every young lady, girl and woman to be able to feel empowered in being female. – Jordin Sparks
As far as friendships go, things change even without the fame. People start moving on. I have a few friends that are married and are starting to have kids and I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness gracious – that’s so insane.’ I also have friends who are just doing their own thing, which is cool. – Jordin Sparks
I played softball and basketball growing up. I really wanted to play football but both parents said no. I was mad for a second, then got over it. Now, just because I’m tall doesn’t mean I can play basketball. I was waaaaay better at swinging a bat. – Jordin Sparks
When I was on Broadway, I got really sick with walking pneumonia. I decided not to take my health for granted anymore and make it a priority. The great thing is, the pounds just started to fall off. – Jordin Sparks
