I love the honesty of New Yorkers. When a New Yorker says ‘let’s do lunch,’ they actually mean it. In L.A., when they say ‘let’s do lunch,’ they’re just trying to say good-bye. – Sherri Shepherd
I take the subway all the time here in New York. I love people watching and trying to figure out everybody’s background, especially teenagers – they’re so uninhibited when they display puppy love. I concoct stories in my mind: ‘Are you guys like Romeo and Juliet?’ – Sherri Shepherd
I love working. If somebody took away my jobs, I don’t know what I would do. I’m just the kind of person who has to stay busy. – Sherri Shepherd
I am trying to inspire people to just take control of their oral health, because if we don’t take care of our oral health, it affects so many different aspects of our lives. If your smile and mouth is not together, it affects your relationship, your self-esteem, your health. – Sherri Shepherd
I want to know how to feel good while I’m in the gym, because I’m mad while I’m on the treadmill. I’ve got that angry-lady face the entire time. – Sherri Shepherd
I don’t know how we’re going to have this baby because I’m in my forties and I can’t even remember my first son’s name. But I’m going to have another baby because I’m feeling good. – Sherri Shepherd
I’ve always been a strong believer that you were born with the hair you’ve got, but have the ability to get the hair you want. – Sherri Shepherd
I worked at Sears in the Woodfield Mall as a gift wrapper. I’m actually a great gift wrapper, and the customers were so nice to me. I was only 16, and eventually Sears put me in customer service because I was so friendly. – Sherri Shepherd
I’d love to have First Lady Michelle Obama over and ask, ‘How do you make your marriage work?’ I think the president is sexy as all get-out, but he has got to get on her nerves some kind of way. He’s this wonderful, powerful man, but she sees him leaving his socks on the floor. – Sherri Shepherd
When I was little I went to a Baptist Church with my grandmother. My earliest memories were of her falling out in the middle of the floor and they had to cover her with a white sheet. Every time we went to church it was scary. The music would start playing, and then everybody would start running and shouting and hollering and screaming. – Sherri Shepherd
For me, wigs and hairpieces are an everyday part of my life. One day I can wear what I like to call my ‘Back to you, Barbara’ look – professional and full of layers – and the next day you may see me in my ‘Bubblin’ Brown Sugar’ look – curly, fun and bubbly. – Sherri Shepherd
I had a lot of guilt as a single mother trying to raise a child. I had to go to work and Jeffrey was screaming that he didn’t want me to. You have to give yourself permission to let go of the guilt. – Sherri Shepherd
I didn’t see my son the entire time I did ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ The only time I saw Jeffrey was when he came to the show Monday and Tuesday nights to watch me dance. You literally rehearse six to eight hours every single day – 40 to 50 hours a week. – Sherri Shepherd
If it wasn’t for my trainer – who comes looking for me three times a week before 7 A.M. – I wouldn’t get my butt out of bed and into the gym. There are many mornings when I think about faking a sprained ankle, but I just put it out of my head and make myself go. – Sherri Shepherd
I’m just so against kids being on Twitter because they are not thinking about the ramifications of what they are saying or the emotion of how they say it. – Sherri Shepherd
Growing up, we didn’t have any money – we shopped where you picked your shoes out of a bin. When I was little, I said, ‘When I grow up, I’m going to have nice shoes.’ – Sherri Shepherd
I get along very well with the cast of ’30 Rock.’ I guess I bring a certain quirkiness to the show as well. I’m just thankful they keep asking me. I didn’t think I was going to be asked back so every time they say, ‘We want you back,’ I’m screaming. I’m jumping up and down and screaming. – Sherri Shepherd
When I was creating my Luxhair Now wig line, I was listening to what my fans were saying online because I wanted to make something that the average woman could wear to work. – Sherri Shepherd
My priority is my son and my husband, and I have a lot of spinning plates, so I try to make sure they’re not one of them. – Sherri Shepherd
Being a Jehovah’s Witness, it was really a trip. We had to go from door to door, and we weren’t allowed to associate with the other children. It was a lot of rules. – Sherri Shepherd
Sometimes I just said, ‘I don’t want tilapia anymore; I can’t even deal with salad. I want M&M’s and Ruffles.’ – Sherri Shepherd
My grandmother taught me that accomplishments meant less than what you left behind. I started to ask myself what impact my comedy would have on people’s lives. And that changed my act. I got cleaner. I stopped talking about generic stuff like airplane peanuts and started speaking the truth about my gift. – Sherri Shepherd
I love the entire process of being on the set and being able to create a character. It’s so much fun. In ‘Think Like a Man,’ I have a very small part. They told me it wasn’t a big budget, but I don’t care about any of that. I’ll do it for free simply because I love being on the set with other creative people. – Sherri Shepherd
Wigs have always been a part of my life and have become a staple accessory in my closet. I can remember being a little girl and hearing all the commotion in my house from my mom, aunts and grandmother when picking out their wigs for the day. It was such a good time for them and part of their everyday beauty routine. – Sherri Shepherd
God bless you if you have one child, but I don’t think anybody should have just one child. Everybody needs a sibling. I have siblings, and I have so many amazing, precious memories with my siblings. I don’t know what I would do if I had been an only child. – Sherri Shepherd
I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior. I believe that Jesus died for my sins, and rose again, and that’s my belief. I still don’t know what ‘Christian’ means. I’m a follower of Christ, but I keep making a whole bunch of mistakes. And I thank God for forgiveness. – Sherri Shepherd
