The Canterbury Tales, The Prioress’ Prologue. The Prioress spends her whole prologue praising the Virgin Mary. However, her pious image is badly damaged when she tells her tale of Jewish blood libel and demonstrates her bigotry anti-Semitism. She is one of Chaucer’s greatest examples of hypocrisy.
