Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice.
– William Shakespeare
Hamlet, Act 1, Scene 3. Polonius is a great man to give advice to others that he himself ironically fails to follow. Like when he tells his son to listen more than he talks. But the meddling Polonius constantly interferes in his children’s lives, as in his daughter Ophelia’s love life and her relationship with Hamlet. A comical character, he is also quite the pompous hypocrite.
