Yes, there is a Nirvanah; it is in leading your sheep to a
green pasture, and in putting your child to sleep, and in writing
the last line of your poem.
Kahlil Gibran
Sand and Foam |
Hate is a dead thing. Who of you would be a tomb?
Kahlil Gibran
Sand and Foam |
The light of stars that were extinguished centuries ago still
reaches us. So it is with the great, who died centuries ago,
but still reach us with the radiations of their personalities.
Kahlil Gibran |
Beauty has its own heavenly language, loftier
than the voices of tongues and lips. It is a timeless language,
common to all humanity, a calm lake that attracts the singing
rivulets to its depth and makes them silent. Only our spirits
can understand beauty, or live and grow with it. It puzzles
our minds; we are unable to describe it in words; it is a sensation
that our eyes cannot see, derived from both the one who observes
and the one who is looked upon. Real beauty is a ray which emanates
from the holy of holies of the spirit, and illuminates the body,
as life comes from the depths of the earth and gives color and
scent to a flower. Real beauty lies in the spiritual accord
that is called love which can exist between a man and a woman.
Kahlil Gibran
Broken Wings |
Are you a politician who says to himself: 'I will use my country
for my own benefit'? . . . Or are you a devoted patriot, who
whispers in the ear of his inner self: 'I love to serve my country
as faithful servant.'
Kahlil Gibran
The New Frontier |
That deed which in our guilt we today call weakness, will
appear tomorrow as an essential link in the complete chain of
Man.
Kahlil Gibran
The Voice of the Master |
Perplexity is the beginning of knowledge.
Kahlil Gibran
The Voice of the Master |
A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely more than
much knowledge that is idle.
Kahlil Gibran
The Voice of the Master |
When we turn to one another for counsel we reduce the number
of our enemies.
Kahlil Gibran
The Voice of the Master |
Love has power that dispels Death; charm that conquers the
enemy.
