Time shall unfold what plighted cunning hides.
Who cover faults, at last shame them derides.
– William Shakespeare
King Lear, Act 1, Scene 1. Lear’s youngest daughter Cordelia shows great wisdom and foresight in her forecast about Goneril and Regan’s hidden scheming. She tells them that time will reveal what cunning her sisters hide. Those who cover up faults are eventually shamed by them. What Cordelia says here comes to pass.
