O horror, horror, horror! Tongue nor heart
Cannot conceive nor name thee!
– William Shakespeare
Macbeth, Act 2, Scene 3. When Macduff goes to wake Duncan, he is horrified to discover his murdered body. He runs onto the stage, crying out in disbelief. Macduff is full of raw grief and outrage at the death of his beloved King. We see an example of personification here, as tongue and heart are given human characteristics.
