Come, Desdemona: I have but an hour
Of love, of worldly matters and direction,
To spend with thee: we must obey the time.
– William Shakespeare
Othello, Act 1, Scene 3. Othello speaks sweetly and lovingly to Desdemona, telling her that he only has "an hour of love" to spend with her before he goes off to war. He unknowingly foreshadows the tragic ending here. For he has little time left for love and worldly matters.
