Pride and Prejudice, Chapter 56. This is one of the great empowering lines from Austen’s novel. Elizabeth is called this by Lady Catherine. She intends it as an insult to Elizabeth, but really it is a compliment to the courage and resolve of Elizabeth in facing up to an upper class bully.
