Antinous – fated to be the first man to taste
an arrow whipped from great Odysseus’ hands,
the king he mocked, at ease in the king’s house,
egging comrades on to mock him too.

– Homer

The Odyssey, Book 21, lines 112-115. This foreshadows that Antinous is not only fated to die at the hands of Odysseus, but he will be the first of the suitors to fall. His death is made to seem like divine justice served on a man who mocks the king and encourages others to do so.
